Tatkal Ticket Rules: The railway department is going to make a big change in the rules of Tatkal ticket booking from 1 July 2025. To book Tatkal train tickets on IRCTC’s site and app, the user will be required to link his Aadhaar with his IRCTC account. According to the new rules of the Railways, now only those passengers will be able to book Tatkal tickets, whose Aadhaar Authentication process will be completed.
OTP verification will also be compulsory
From July 15, Aadhaar OTP verification will also be necessary at the time of Tatkal ticket booking. This rule will apply to all booking mode (online, counter and agents). In such a situation, the passenger will have to ensure that the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar is turned on and active.
24 train tickets can now be booked every month from IRCTC accounts linked to Aadhaar. Whereas only 12 tickets will be booked from accounts without Aadhaar Verification.
How to link Aadhaar to IRCTC account
- Go to www.irctc.co.in or open the IRCTC Rail Connect app.
- Log in from your login credentials.
- Go to the ‘My Account’ section and click on ‘Link Your Aadhaar’ or ‘Aadhaar Kyc’.
- 12-Enter the Aadhaar number or virtual ID of the contingles.
- Click ‘Send OTP’.
- Enter OTP on the link mobile number link to Aadhaar.
- Accept and submit the consent form.
After the process is completed, the base status in your IRCTC profile will look ‘verified’.
How to add aadhaar-varified passengers to Master List
At the time of TATKAL ticket booking, only those passengers will be able to choose from Aadhaar. To add them to Master List, you have to follow the process below:
- After logging in, go to ‘My profile’ → ‘Master List’.
- Fill the passenger’s name, gender, date of birth and Aadhaar number.
- Choose Aadhaar as ID proof.
- Submit details.
As soon as the verification process is completed, the status will change from ‘Pending’ to ‘Verified’.
