Tableaux of 15 states and union territories will be displayed on the Path of Duty.
New Delhi: The theme of the tableaux display in the upcoming Republic Day Parade is ‘Golden India: Heritage and Development’. This time, 15 states and union territories have been selected to present tableaux on the Path of Duty on 26 January. The Defense Ministry gave this information on Monday. The Defense Ministry said that the states and union territories that have been selected include – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, It is the name of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Apart from this, 11 ministries and departments of the central government have also been selected for the Republic Day celebrations of 2025, the ministry said in a statement.
This will be the theme this time
“Every year, State/UT and Central Government Ministries/Departments display their tableaux on the duty path as part of the Republic Day Celebrations (RDC),” the statement said. The theme of the tableaux for RDC-2025 has been fixed as ‘Golden India: Heritage and Development’.” It said, “All States and Union Territories, whether selected for the Path of Duty or not, You are invited to display your tableaux during the Bharat Parv (January 26-31) at the Red Fort. Tableaux are one of the important components of the Republic Day Parade, the ministry said in a statement. The statement said that due to the time allotted for the floats in the total duration of the parade, “the floats are selected by an expert committee.”
How is selection done?
“While evaluating the tableau ideas submitted by various states/UTs and ministries, conceptual uniqueness and innovation, creative expression with a clear, communicable message, a combination of subtlety as well as directness, are the criteria for each tableau,” the statement said. The tableau included key aspects such as the balance between heritage and development, exclusion of repetitive ideas, special attention to details such as colour, form, texture, flow, rhythm, proportion and balance, ensuring a well-coordinated aesthetic experience of grand scale. The statement said a “consultative process” has been adopted by the Defense Ministry since the beginning of the year to take decisions on various tableau-related activities.
Meeting held in April 2024
“A meeting was held at the level of senior officials in April 2024 to discuss improvement in the quality of Tableau,” the statement said. Various suggestions received through this have been incorporated in the process. The theme for the tableau was also decided based on the suggestions received from the States/Union Territories.” The ministry said in the statement that a well-established system is in place for the purpose of selection of tableaux to participate in the Republic Day Parade, According to which the Ministry of Defense invites proposals for tableaux from all the States/Union Territories and Central Ministries/Departments. “The proposals for tableaux received from various States/Union Territories and Central Ministries/Departments are evaluated in a series of expert committee meetings comprising experts from art, culture, painting, sculpture, music, architecture,” the statement said. Eminent people from the fields of dance, choreography etc. are included.
“The entire selection process is robust, fair, transparent, merit-based and free from any bias,” the ministry said in a statement. The selected tableaux will showcase the diverse strengths of India and its ever-evolving cultural inclusiveness, leading towards a glorious future, and showcase ‘Golden India – Heritage and Development’ to the global audience.” (input- agency)
