A controversy has arisen over the memorial of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, hours before he was laid to rest on Saturday. In political rhetoric, Congress accused BJP, after which BJP gave a befitting reply to Congress and said that at least they should not play the game of dirty politics in the name of Manmohan Singh. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about exploring the possibility of building a memorial for Manmohan Singh at the same place where his last rites will be held today.
“This is in keeping with the tradition of building memorials for politicians and former prime ministers at the place of their cremation,” Congress chief Kharge said. In a press release issued regarding this, the Central Government said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that space will be allotted for the memorial of Dr. Manmohan Singh, adding that in the meantime the cremation and other formalities can proceed. .
Congress made allegations, BJP replied
The senior Congress leader also immediately attacked the BJP, saying people were unable to understand why the Center could not find a location for the memorial, calling it an insult to India’s first Sikh Prime Minister.
On the issue of allotting space for the memorial of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur said, “It is very sad and no politics should be done on this subject… It is condemnable that people who served the country The Prime Minister is not being allotted a small space…”
Congress MP and party’s Punjab chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wading said, “We are demanding that the government provide space for the memorial. If space can be provided to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, then why not Manmohan Singh? He is one of the greatest leaders of the country.” He was the only Sikh Prime Minister…When the memorial is built, it will inspire future generations…”
On the allegations of Congress leaders, BJP said that Congress should stop dirty politics on the death of Dr. Singh. “Congress should remember how it treated former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao ji after his death,” a party statement said.
The last rites will be performed at Nigambodh Ghat.
The country’s former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh died at Delhi AIIMS at the age of 92. His mortal remains will be kept at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters for an hour from 8.30 am today for darshan of the people and Congress workers. Party general secretary KC Venugopal said Singh’s last journey will begin at 9.30 am on Saturday from the headquarters to the crematorium. His funeral will be held with full state honors at 11.45 am on Saturday at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi.
