More than 100 people have lost their lives due to the earthquake that occurred in Tibet on Tuesday morning. According to US Geological Survey data, the intensity of this earthquake was 7.1. Its center was 10 kilometers below the ground in Dingri, Tibet.
About 1,000 houses were damaged in the earthquake. According to China’s news agency Xinhua, after the first earthquake, about 50 earthquakes of magnitude 4.4 occurred within 3 hours. After this the northern door of Mount Everest was closed.
This earthquake is considered to be the most severe earthquake that has occurred in China in the last few years. Its tremors were felt in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. Earlier in December 2023, an earthquake of 6.2 magnitude had occurred in Gansu province of China, in which 151 people lost their lives.

Xi Jinping asked to take all possible steps for rescue The China Earthquake Network Center said Tuesday’s earthquake was the most powerful earthquake recorded within a radius of 200 kilometers (124 miles) in the past five years. Tibet’s spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said he was deeply saddened and was praying for those killed in the earthquake.
According to China’s government agency Xinhua, more than 1500 rescue workers have been sent. Along with this, more than 22,000 items including tents, coats, quilts, folding beds have also been sent to the affected areas. Chinese President Xi Jinping has asked for all possible steps to be taken to reduce the number of casualties and assist the affected people.
Level-3 emergency declared in the affected area According to reports, a large number of people are trapped under the debris after the earthquake. They are being rescued. According to China’s CCTV news, China’s State Council has sent a task force to the earthquake-affected area and declared a Level-3 emergency.
The Chinese Air Force is also engaged in rescue operations in the affected area. The infrastructure of the area has been badly damaged due to the earthquake, due to which the supply of both electricity and water has been disrupted. In view of the earthquake, China has closed the tourist areas of Mount Everest to tourists.
