Market Today: Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 may see a flat start on December 26. GIFT Nifty was trading around 23,804 this morning. Talking about the last trading session, in a volatile session, the benchmark indices closed with a slight decline on December 24, in which Nifty managed to close above 23,700 amid buying in Auto, Oil & Gas and FMCG. At the end of the trading session, Sensex was down 67.30 points or 0.09 per cent at 78,472.87 and Nifty was down 25.80 points or 0.11 per cent at 23,727.65.
Mixed signals for the market
There are mixed signals for the market on the day of monthly expiry of Nifty. FIIs sold in cash, net short was close to two and a quarter lakh contracts. There was a slight rise in Gift Nifty in the morning. Asian markets were also up. On Tuesday, there was a rise of up to one percent in the American markets.
Crude rises, crosses $73/bbl
Crude has increased on expectations of improvement in demand during the next few months. Its prices have increased by more than one percent and have crossed 73 dollars. On Tuesday, natural gas also saw a rise of more than 7%. There is also a slight increase in gold and silver.
BPCL’s bid is lowest for solar project, NALCO signs lease agreement for two blocks
BPCL has made the lowest bid for 150 MW Solar PV power project. It is expected to generate revenue of Rs 100 crore every year. Nalco has signed mining lease for Utkal-D and Utkal E-coal blocks.
FM’s pre-budget meeting with trade, industry
Today Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a pre-budget meeting with Trade and Industry. This meeting will take place at 11 o’clock. In Tuesday’s meeting with economists, PM Modi had stressed on taking steps in the budget to increase inflation, employment and investment.

GGIFT Nifty is trading flat, indicating a slow start to the day. Nifty futures are seen at 23,804. Nifty is seen around 23,763.50 with a gain of 22.50 points or 0.09 percent.
Asian market
Asia’s benchmark stock indexes rose due to gains in markets in Japan and South Korea. While many other regional markets remained closed due to holidays. Sentiment improved on Tuesday after US stocks continued this year’s rally.
US market
American markets remained closed on Wednesday on the occasion of Christmas.
Fall in US bond yields
In early trade on Thursday, US 10-year Treasuries rose 13 basis points to 4.59 per cent, while 2-year Treasuries rose 14 basis points to 4.33 per cent.

dollar index
The dollar index was trading marginally lower against other major currencies in early trade on Thursday. At present the dollar index is seen at the level of 108.41.
fund flow action
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 2,454.21 crore on December 24, while domestic institutional investors stepped up their buying and bought equities worth Rs 2,819.25 crore on the same day.
