Sovereign Gold Bond: Redemption of Sovereign Gold Bond 2017-18 Series III today, investors got 338% bumper return – sovereign gold bond 2017 18 series iii is due for redemption today investors get 338 percent return

RBI has announced the final redemption of Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2017-18 Series III. These gold bonds matured on 16 October. The central bank has said that investors will get Rs 12,567 for every gram of gold on the redemption date. This price has been calculated on the basis of the average closing prices of gold (999 purity) on October 13, October 14 and October 15 this year. India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA) releases these prices.

This series came in October 2017

2017–18 Series III Sovereign Gold Bond Were issued on October 16, 2017. These bonds were issued at a price of Rs 2,866 per gram of gold. This means that investors investing in this series will get a profit of around Rs 9,701 per gram. This is a return of about 338 percent in 8 years. This does not include the annual interest of 2.5 percent on SGB. If 2.5 percent interest is added annually over 8 years, the total return of investors will increase further.

ACGB was launched in November 2015

The government launched the Sovereign Gold Scheme (SGB) in November 2015. Its objective was to give people the option of investing in physical gold. RBI issues gold bonds on behalf of the Government of India. The investment in this matures in 8 years. Investors get returns according to the rise in gold prices during this period. Apart from this, 2.5 percent interest rate is also available annually. Investors have the option to withdraw money after 5 years. Buying and selling of SGBs also takes place on stock exchanges. But, the government has not released the new installment of SGB since February last year.

SGB investors are getting bumper returns

With the rise in gold prices in the last 3-4 years, SGB investors are going to get manifold returns on their investment. But, investors are disappointed with the government not releasing the new installment of SGB. SGB is a great option for investors who are interested in taking advantage of the rise in gold prices rather than investing in physical gold. This scheme is also very attractive in terms of tax. There is no tax on capital gains when SGB matures. Only 2.5 percent interest is taxed annually.
