What is SIM Swap Fraud?

SIM Swap In fraud, cyber criminals cheat the user’s mobile number in their possession. They start the process of closing the SIM by taking information from the user with some excuse and then get a new SIM issue on the same number.

The Department of Telecommunications has now made biometric verification mandatory for the new SIM. SMS service will be closed for 24 hours of new SIM activation, so that the misuse of OTP can be stopped.
