Team India’s young player and vice -captain Shubman Gill has given his response to Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement. He said that he will remember every learning from Rohit Sharma for a lifetime. Rohit announced his retirement from Test cricket on 07 May 2025. All cricket fans are surprised by his decision. India have to visit England for the five -Test series in June. This will be India’s first series in the World Test Championship 2025-2027 cycle. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has praised Rohit Sharma in social media posts.
Gill wrote heart talk for Rohit in Instagram Story
Shubman Gill wrote in his Instagram story that whatever he has done in the Test as a captain and player, India is thankful to him. Gill said he is an inspiration for him and all who have played with or against Rohit. Gill told that he has learned a lot from Rohit and he will always remember him. He further wrote that Happy Retirement. You have been the best captain. Thanks captain.
Shubman Gill can be made Test captain
After Rohit Sharma’s retirement, now the biggest question is who will be the captain of Team India on the upcoming England tour. According to media reports, Shubman Gill is leading in the race to become the next captain of India. Bumrah is also a best option for captaincy but his fitness has been a big problem. It may be that Bumrah gets comfort in some matches on the tour of England under the Workload Management. Now it will be seen that the team management now assigns the responsibility of captaincy to whom.
Rohit’s Test record as captain
Rohit made a Test debut in 2013 and scored a century in his first match. As captain, Rohit played 24 Test matches, out of which the team won 12 and defeat in nine. Under his captaincy, the Indian team also reached the final of the World Test Championship in 2023, but had to face defeat to Australia there.
