The Indian team started the three -match ODI series against England in a brilliant manner and won the first match played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur by 4 wickets. In this match, Team India got a target of 249 runs, which they achieved at the loss of 6 wickets in 38.4 overs. In this victory of the Indian team, Vice -captain Shubman Gill played an important role with the bat and played a great innings of 87 runs in 96 balls. Gill also did a big feat on the strength of his innings and overtook the opening batsman of the Pakistani team, Imam ul Haq in a special list.

Gill became the third player to score the most runs in the first 48 ODIs

Australia’s Test tour for Shubman Gill was not as expected at all but he has returned in the same old style in his favorite format ODI. In this ODI series, being held just before the Champions Trophy 2025, Gill has given a lot of relief to the team management on the basis of his innings in the first match. Gill hit a total of 14 fours during the innings of 87 runs, while with this he has now become the third player in terms of scoring the most runs in the first 48 matches of his career in ODI format. Gill has done the work of leaving Pakistani player Imam ul Haq behind in this case. Gill now has a total of 2415 runs in 48 ODIs.

Gill turned ahead of Kohli in this case

In ODI format, Shubman Gill is now ahead of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in terms of batting the highest average with 2000 or more runs. Gill has so far scored 2415 runs in 48 ODIs at an average of 58.90, while Virat Kohli has a batting average of 58.18 in ODIs. Gill is currently in the first place in this list. Gill’s average against England was 58.20 before the beginning of the first ODI, in which he has now improved further.
