Share Market Today: There was a huge fall in the Indian stock market today on January 6. There was an atmosphere of chaos on Dalal Street due to the threat of new HMPV virus like Corona in the country, increasing apprehension regarding quarterly results and weak global signals. Sensex closed with a loss of 1,258 points. Nifty took a dive and came near 23,600. Due to this huge fall, investors lost about Rs 10.83 lakh crore in a single day. The condition of Broader Market was even worse. BSE Midcap index fell 2.44 percent, while Smallcap index fell 3.17 percent. Even all the sectoral indices of BSE closed in the red. The biggest decline was seen in utility, metal, realty, power and oil and gas stocks.

At the end of trading, BSE Sensex closed at 77,964.99, down 1,258.12 points or 1.59 per cent. Whereas NSE’s 50-share index, Nifty fell by 388.70 points or 1.62 per cent and closed at the level of 23,616.05.

Investors lost ₹10.83 lakh crore

The total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE came down to Rs 439.03 lakh crore today on January 6, which was Rs 449.78 lakh crore on its previous trading day i.e. Friday, January 3. In this way, the market cap of companies listed in BSE has decreased by about Rs 10.83 lakh crore today. Or in other words, the wealth of investors has declined by about Rs 10.83 lakh.

These 5 Sensex stocks fell the most

Whereas the remaining 27 Sensex stocks closed with losses today. In this too, Tata Steel shares were the top loser with a fall of 4.41 percent. Whereas the shares of NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Power Grid and Zomato saw a decline of 2.95 percent to 3.65 percent.

Only 3 Sensex shares closed in the green.

3 out of 30 shares of BSE Sensex closed in the green i.e. with gains. In this, Titan shares had the highest rise of 0.60 percent. After this, shares of HCL Tech and Sun Pharma closed with gains of 0.26 percent and 0.01 percent respectively.

There was a rise in 3,471 shares

The number of shares closing with gains on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today was high. A total of 4,244 shares were traded on the exchange today. Out of these, 657 shares closed with gains. A decline was seen in 3,471 shares. While 116 shares closed flat without any fluctuations. Apart from this, 176 shares touched their new 52-week high during trading today. Whereas 113 shares touched their new 52-week low.
