Sensex-Nifty Closes Red: Today, on the last day of 2024, a lot of volatility was seen in the domestic market. The market remained in the red zone under the pressure of IT stocks, but on the strength of Pharma, PSU Bank and Oil & Gas stocks, the Sensex once recovered by more than 600 points from the intra-day low and reached the green zone. However, this recovery could not be sustained and it slipped. At the broader level, despite the equity benchmark index being in the red zone, overall investor wealth has increased due to good buying in small cap stocks.

The market cap of companies listed on BSE increased by Rs 71.5 thousand crore, which means the wealth of investors has increased by Rs 71.5 thousand crore. At the end of the day, Sensex closed at 78,139.01 with a fall of 109.12 points or 0.14% and Nifty closed at 23,644.80 with a slip of 0.10 points. Talking sector wise, Nifty IT has fallen by more than 1 percent while Nifty index of Oil and Gas has closed with a jump of more than 1 percent.

Increase of Rs 71.5 thousand crore in investors’ wealth

One trading day earlier i.e. on December 30, 2024, the total market cap of all the shares listed on BSE was Rs 4,41,35,836.51 crore. Today i.e. on 31st December 2024, with some ups and downs, it jumped to Rs 4,42,07,350.09 crore at the end of the day. This means that investors’ capital has increased by Rs 71,513.58 crore.

There are 30 shares listed on Sensex, out of which five closed in the green zone. The biggest gains were in Kotak Bank, ITC, UltraTech Cement. 127 shares at one year high

4079 shares were traded on BSE today. In this, 2321 shares strengthened, 1647 declined while 111 showed no change. Apart from this, 127 shares are at one year high and 102 shares are at one year low. While 22 shares reached the upper circuit, 17 shares reached the lower circuit.
