Sawan 2025: The month of Sawan has started. In this holy of Sawan, devotees of Lord Shiva go on Kavad Yatra in the month. Keeping in mind the Kavad Yatra, on the first Monday of Sawan, many states have decided to keep schools in their districts closed. Due to the month of Sawan and Kavad Yatra, a holiday has been announced in schools on Monday, July 14 in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. During the Sawan, crores of devotees travel on foot for Lord Shiva with water from the holy river, which increases the crowd and traffic on the paths. For this reason, the administration has taken this decision as a precautionary measure.
For this reason, holidays have been declared on different dates in some districts. At the same time, an order has been issued to close all government and private schools every Monday in Varanasi and Badaun.
Varanasi: In view of the Kavad Yatra in Varanasi and huge crowd of devotees during Sawan, the administration has decided to keep all government and private schools closed every Monday. Especially instructions have been given to keep the schools located around the Kavad routes, so that traffic and security arrangements are maintained during the journey and no one is inconvenienced.
Badaun: In Badaun district too, a decision has been taken to leave in schools every Monday of Sawan, so that children and school staff do not have to face any trouble due to the crowd of devotees.
Bareilly: Every Monday of Sawan, a holiday has been announced in schools in Bareilly, because on this day devotees arrive in large numbers to offer water to the major Shiva temples like Saptnath, Guldia Gaurishankar and Siddha Gopal Baba. Keeping in mind the crowd and security, the administration has taken this decision.
Haridwar: Keeping in mind the increasing number of devotees and security arrangements during the Kandar Yatra in Haridwar, the administration has decided to keep all schools and Anganwadi centers closed from 14 to 23 July. This decision has been taken so that there is no problem in the movement of Kanwari and school children.
Nuh: A holiday has been ordered in schools on 14 July in Nuh district of Haryana. This decision has been taken in view of the Jalabhishek Yatra and the activities of the Kandar Yatra going on in the area, so that the yatra can be completed peacefully.
Ujjain: A large number of devotees visit Ujjain to see Lord Mahakal in the month of Sawan. In view of this, the administration has decided to keep a holiday in all schools every Monday from 14 July to 11 August, so that students and school staff do not face any problem between the crowd and traffic.
