In view of the increasing cases of digital fraud in the country, SBI has given important information to customers. The bank has said that there is no need to be afraid of calls starting from +91-1600, these calls are completely safe and real.
SBI stated on social media that these numbers are used only for transaction and service-related calls. In such a situation, if you get a call from this series, then you can talk relaxed.
RBI’s new instruction
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed all banks and financial institutions in January 2025 to call customers only from 1600xx series, so that people can make a difference between real and fake calls. At the same time, the 140xx series will be used only for marketing and promotion.
RBI has said that the mobile number has become very important in today’s time – this is an important medium to get OTP, alerts, and account information. But the same number has also become an easy tool for fraudsters.

SBI has advised customers to answer only the calls from the numbers given above. Do not talk to unknown or suspicious numbers. Do not share your banking information with anyone.
