Sajjan Kumar sentenced to life imprisonment
Sajjan Kumar has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi. Sajjan Kumar has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Saraswati Vihar violence involved in the 1984 anti -Sikh riots. Sajjan Kumar has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the second time.
The death penalty was demanded
Prior to this, Sajjan Kumar is serving a life sentence in the Delhi Cantt case. The Delhi Police and the victims had demanded a death sentence against Sajjan Kumar, considering the matter in the category of rarest of rare.
Sikhs slaughtered in 1984- Police bid in court
The police had said in the written arguments filed in the court that this case is also more serious. A woman was targeted in the Nirbhaya case. People of a particular community were targeted here. The slaughter of Sikhs in 1984 is a crime against humanity.
Father-son murdered in a ruthless manner
The Delhi Police had said in its argument that a particular community was targeted in it. This riots shook the consciousness of the society. On 1 November 84, two Sikhs Jaswant Singh and his son Tarundeep Singh were brutally burnt to death in Delhi’s Saraswati Vihar area.
FIR was lodged at Sarita Vihar police station
The FIR related to this incident was lodged at Saraswati Vihar police station in North Delhi. The complainants were recorded on the basis of the affidavit given before the Ranganath Mishra Commission.
