Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Taliban Foreign Minister Mottaki.
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar talked to Afghanistan’s acting External Affairs Minister Mawalvi Aamir Khan Mottaki on Thursday night. Jaishankar thanked Mottaki for condemning the Pahalgam terror attack.
Afghanistan rejected the allegations of Pakistan, stating that Indian missiles targeted Afghanistan. Jaishankar also thanked the Afghan government for this. This was the first ministerial level conversation between India and the Taliban government of Afghanistan.
Jaishankar said that the old friendly relationship between India and the Afghan people was repeated and how to carry forward it in future.

Taliban government demands visa from India
- According to the report of the Indian Express, the Taliban Foreign Minister demanded Indian visa facility for Afghan traders and patients from India.
- Apart from this, he also appealed for the release of Afghan prisoners in India and return home. Jaishankar spoke of solving these issues immediately.
- India stopped giving visas with immediate effect on 25 August 2021 after the Taliban entry in Afghanistan. The decision was taken in view of the security situation there after the Taliban came to power.
Negotiations started with the meeting of Misri and Mottaki
The talks between India and the Taliban government began in January after the Taliban captured Afghanistan. In January, there was a meeting between Vikram Misri and Mottaki in Dubai. The Afghan Foreign Minister then appreciated the Indian leadership for joining and supporting the people of Afghanistan.
After this, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Anand Prakash met Mottaki on 28 April. During that time there was a discussion on increasing trade and cooperation between the two countries. Now S Jaishankar and Mottaki have had a phone conversation.

Taliban government from India not recognized, given 25 thousand crores in 20 years
India has not yet given official recognition to the Taliban government, but India has helped Afghanistan to Rs 20 thousand crore in the last 20 years. In November last year, the Taliban applied its diplomat at the Afghan Consulate in Mumbai. There are already Afghan embassy in Russia, China, Türkiye, Iran and Uzbekistan.
Expert said- Taliban needs India more

- India has always described Afghanistan as ‘strategically important’ country. When the Taliban came to power, India almost ignored him and only paid attention to the need.
- Taliban’s relationship of Pakistan is no longer good. In such a situation, he wants to show the world that he is not just on Pakistan. Taliban now wants to show contact with countries like India and show that they have more options and they are not just a puppet of Pakistan.
