The European Union (EU) will announce new sanctions on Russia today i.e. on 20 May. Russian President Vladimir Putin did not attend the Ukraine peace talks in Istanbul in Turki on 16 May. Because of this, these restrictions are being imposed.
German Chancellor Frederick Martz posted it on X on 16 May.
Martz had said- Ukrainian President Jailonski’s going to Istanbul was a great goodwill message. Putin did not come and proved himself wrong. We will announce new sanctions on Russia on Tuesday in Brussels.
30 companies in Russia may also be banned
Earlier on 14 May, EU Diplomats agreed to the 17th ban package against Russia. It talked about targeting Russia’s shadow fleet (fleet of oil tankers).
A senior EU official told the media that about 200 ships, 30 companies and 75 persons and organizations associated with Russian Military Industrial Complex would also be banned.
Considering seizing Russian property
Martz said- We are also considering seizing Russian properties while under the purview of law. If this can be done, we will do it. However, we also have to take care of the impact on the European market.
EU and G7 countries have a property freeze of about $ 300 billion in Russia. Out of this, Russian Central Bank has 198 billion dollars deposited in Reserve Belgium.
European leaders are reluctant to seize the Russian property, as this may reduce the trust of other countries on the banking system of Euro and EU.
Yesterday Putin and Trump spoke on the phone for two hours
US President Donald Trump spoke on the phone to Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky and then Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone on Monday night.
Russia and Ukraine Jung were discussed for about 2 hours between Trump and Putin. Putin described this conversation as very good. He said that if the correct agreements are reached, then the ceasefire is possible in Russia-Ukraine for some time.
According to Russian news agency Tas, Putin said that he is ready to draft a peace agreement with Ukraine. The real cause of the struggle has to be eliminated.
At the same time, a few minutes of conversation took place between Jailonski and Trump, its information has not been revealed yet.
