IRCTC: The rules of ticket booking have been changed in Indian Railways. These rules of Indian Railways have come into effect from 15 July 2025 today. These changes have been made in Tatkal ticket booking. Now whether you book tickets from online IRCTC website or app or through offline PRS counter or agent, Aadhaar -based OTP verification has now become mandatory. The purpose of this step will be to prevent rigging in Tatkal ticket booking and more easier for common passengers.
Now Aadhaar OTP verification is necessary for tatkal tickets
Now whenever a passenger books a Tatkal train ticket, he will have to enter OTP on the mobile number linked to his Aadhaar card. The ticket will not be released until this OTP is successfully verified. This rule is applicable to IRCTC website, IRCTC RAIL Connect App, PRS counter and all TATKAL booking on Railway agents.
When and how are Tatkal tickets booked?
Tatkal tickets of AC Class (1A, 2A, 3A, CC, EC) can be booked from 10:00 am a day before the train departure. Tatkal tickets of Non-C Class (SL, 2S) are booked from 11:00 am a day before the departure of the train.
Aadhaar OTP is also required on offline booking
If you are booking Tatkal tickets through offline PRS counter or any register railway agent, it is still necessary to give Aadhaar OTP. At the time of booking, you have to provide your Aadhaar number and mobile number related to Aadhaar.

If you want to book Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC app or website, first of all, make your IRCTC profile apertent with Aadhaar. If you do not do so, you will not be able to book Tatkal tickets.

Click on Authenticate User
Complete the procedure by verification of OTP
Time limit is also on agent booking
Railways have also limited booking time for authorized agents, so that the common people get tickets first.
For AC Class: Agents will not be able to book tickets from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
For Non-C Class: Agents will not be able to book from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
Train fare also increased from July 1
Railways have increased the fares of several special and premium trains since 1 July 2025. This includes trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Duronto, Humsafar. The new fare rates have been covered according to distance and class.
Reservation chart will now be built 8 hours ago
The Railways has made another change that now a reservation chart will be prepared 8 hours before the departure of the train. If the train is departing before 2 pm, then its chart will be made a day before 9 pm. Earlier this chart was made only 4 hours ago.
