What Trump did on the first day of his rule in America is unmatched. As soon as Trump took charge, he issued more than a hundred orders in two hours. Every order is shocking. Every order is such that it is being discussed all over the world. As soon as Trump reached the Oval Office, National Guards were deployed on the Mexico border. The border was sealed to prevent illegal entry.
Trump has said that the largest deportation program in history will soon start in America. Citizens of other countries living illegally in America will be sent back. Bloomberg agency has claimed that the Trump administration has prepared a list of 18 thousand Indians who are living illegally in America. Now preparations are being made to send them back to India.
Trump has taken some other big decisions. For example, now a newborn will not automatically get citizenship if born on American soil. Till now, children of foreigners living in America who are born in America are considered American citizens. But this will not happen now. Trump ended this right. Trump has ordered America’s federal agencies not to approve the application for American citizenship of the child of an immigrant or a person living in America on a work visa. Trump has given one month’s time to the agencies to comply with his order. This can affect millions of people. There is a possibility that this order of Trump will be challenged in the courts in future. But, Trump said that his order is completely legal and he is ready to face the courts.
Trump has once again withdrawn America from the Paris Climate Agreement. In 2015, all the countries of the world had signed this agreement under which to promote green energy and reduce carbon emissions. But even during his previous tenure, Trump had separated America from the Paris Climate Agreement. Since America emits the largest amount of gases polluting the Earth’s atmosphere, global warming will occur if America exits the Paris Deal, and the Earth’s temperature will increase rapidly.
Reiterating another decision of his first term, Trump has announced his separation from the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO, with 196 member countries, works to deal with health emergencies around the world. America gives maximum 20 percent funding to WHO. America gives 500 million dollars to WHO, while China gives only 39 million dollars.
Donald Trump has proved that he does what he says, and what he does, he says it clearly in advance. No President has ever issued 100 orders on the first day of assuming office at the White House. What Trump did has never happened before in the history of America. When I heard Trump’s speech on Monday night, I knew from his attitude that he was going to create chaos in the whole world. The manner in which Trump trashed the previous government in front of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was shocking. When Trump was describing America’s previous government as useless and talking about its incompetence, the faces of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were about to be seen.
Among the decisions taken by Trump, the biggest decision is to expel people living illegally in America. Now more than one crore illegal immigrants will be sent back to the countries from where they came. This has been a big problem of America for many years, but till date no President has had the courage to deport them because identifying one crore people and sending them back is a big challenge. But when Trump is determined, no power in the world can stop him.
The second big thing in the decisions taken by Trump is regarding America’s trade and commerce. The impact of every decision of America in these matters will be visible on the whole world. The most pressure will be on China. Trump has his eye on every business which is under China’s control. But Trump had said during his election campaign that he would bring back America’s old glory in world trade and end China’s dominance. He has started work in this direction.
In view of Trump’s new policies, India will also have to make its strategy afresh. India is currently the fastest growing economy in the world and every trade-related decision of America will impact India as well. How much effect this will have will be known after a few days. (Rajat Sharma)
