In a government nursing college in Kerala, first year students were tortured in the name of ragging, your hair will stand up. You will be shocked to hear the painful screams of the students. The video of ragging came to me in this college of Kottayam. Seeing the torture being given to the students of nursing college, the spirit trembled after hearing their screams.
In this government college, five senior boys, along with fresher students, in the name of ragging. Tie their hands and feet and hung heavy dumbbells on the private parts. Forcibly drink alcohol. The demons laughed after seeing the students who opposed the torture and crying crying. These Havans did not do this kind of act only once or twice, this rituals continued for three months. Students were so scared that they did not complain to anyone, but when senior students started recovering money for alcohol after cruelty, beaten up the money, then a student told his parents all the stories. . The parents immediately went to the police.
You can imagine that when it is so painful to hear the matter of havoc in the name of Rangig, how will his pictures be. What would have passed on their parents after hearing the painful screams of the children who faced this richness? The question is that when ragging was happening in this government nursing college, what was the college administration doing? Where were the principal of the college when the junior students were cordial? Why did the hostel’s wardon not get the news of ragging on campus?
The Kerala Police arrested five students on charges of ragging from where they were sent to jail for 14 days. Out of five students arrested for ragging, three are third year, and two second year students. After the arrest, the principal has suspended the five ragging students. It was harassment for three months and the administration did not get the news. When this question was asked to the principal, he said with great innocence that the whom ragging was done, never complained about it.
The Kottayam police have filed a case under the Anti Ragging Act on the accused students as well as sections of illegal recovery. Kottayam’s SP said that the police is investigating the negligence of the college management in this case. The police have seized the mobiles of the ragging students and sent them for forensic examination and have questioned the hostel’s word.
What happened in the name of ragging in Kottayam is a sin, there is a stigma in the name of humanity. There is a crime whose echo will be heard in the ears for years. There is a law against ragging in the country. Every educational institution has an anti -ragging committee. Even then there was such barbarity. Where did the law go? Where did the Anti Ragging Committee go? This means clear, even today senior students torture freshers, laugh at their screams, make fun of their pain and junior students say nothing to anyone in fear. They have to stay there, they have to study there.
Even in this college of Kottayam, if senior students would not ask for money for alcohol, they would not have been beaten up, then perhaps their truth would never come out. In fact, it is the responsibility of Principal and Wardan that there is no ragging in college, not torture of freshers. They cannot escape by saying that no one complained.
The Kottayam incident is a warning for every college principal, every hostel’s wardon. The National Human Rights Commission has sought a report from Kerala Police’s DGP on the incidents of ragging in Kottayam’s college within 10 days. It is expected that the culprits of Kottayam will be punished soon. (Rajat Sharma)
