The incident of two tribal women being tied to a tree and beaten in Balasore district of Odisha has shocked the entire country. This incident happened on Thursday in Govardhanpur village. The women were accused of trying to convert some tribal families. The video of this incident went viral on social media, after which the police came into action.

Police action and investigation in the case

According to police, two women and a man were held hostage and beaten by the villagers. Later the police rescued them. Initial investigation into the incident revealed that the matter was related to religious conversion and caste dispute. The women have been booked under the Odisha Freedom of Religion Act, 1967 and other sections of the Indian Penal Code. At the same time, action has been taken against 3 people involved in this incident under SC/ST Act and other sections and they have been arrested and notices have been given to 7 people.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi reacted to this incident and wrote on social media ‘X’, “In Odisha, tribal women were tied to a tree and beaten and in Madhya Pradesh, a Dalit youth died in police custody. This is the result of BJP’s Manuwadi thinking.” We will fight for the constitutional rights and justice of the Bahujans.”

Balasore MP counterattacks on Rahul’s reaction

Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi reacted strongly to Rahul Gandhi’s statement. He said, “I strongly condemn this incident. Rahul Gandhi’s statement that the BJP government encourages such incidents is absolutely wrong. If it is so, then who was responsible for the Sikh massacre? Women under Congress rule. But what about the atrocities? The law is taking its course and the culprits will be arrested soon.” MP Sarangi spoke to Balasore SP and directed to take immediate action. He said that there is a law on the issue of conversion, but it is wrong to beat someone and take the law into one’s hands.
