Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar insisted on adopting a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.

Foreign ministers of quad countries (India, America, Japan, Australia) strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. He promised to unite against terrorism.

Foreign ministers of quad countries spoke of punishing the culprits of this attack as soon as possible. Quad said- We are against all kinds of terrorism and violence. It also includes cross -border terrorism.

Foreign ministers held a meeting in Washington on Tuesday. In this, India’s Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar, America’s Marco Rubio, Japan’s Takeshi Ivaya and Australia’s Penny Wong attended.

The meeting talked about several important issues including terrorism, minerals, global warming, AI. Apart from this, quad countries together started the ‘Quad Critical Minerals Initiative’.

Jaishankar said- zero tolerance against terrorism

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said in the meeting- India has every right to take action against terrorism for the safety of its people. India will continue to exercise this right.

Jaishankar said that the victims of terrorism and those who spread terror from one perspective. He reiterated India’s zero tolerance policy against terrorism.

Along with this, the Foreign Minister insisted on the world united against terrorism. He also mentioned India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the Pahalgam attack, in which nine terrorist bases were destroyed in Pakistan and PoK on 7 May.

Discussion on Indo-US relations

Jaishankar met separately with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after the meeting. Both spoke to further strengthening the Indo-US strategic partnership. Regional and global issues were also shared their views.

The ministers emphasized peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. There was also talk on issues like global warming, cyber security and maritime security.

Critical minerals initiative started

Quad countries together launched a special mineral initiative. Its name is ‘Quad Critical Minerals Initiative’. The initiative has started to reduce China’s dominance in the field of minerals.

In a joint statement after a conversation by foreign ministers, the foreign ministers of the countries said to start an initiative. Which foreign ministers described it as important for securing and promoting minerals.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described quad countries as an important strategic partner and said that the time has come to take action on many special issues.

Jaishankar said- India is no longer afraid of nuclear weapons threat

Jaishankar said that India will give a befitting reply to terrorism coming from Pakistan. He said that India is no longer afraid of nuclear weapons threats.

Jaishankar said- Now the time to show this fear is gone that both countries are nuclear forces, so India should take restraint. If Pakistan attacks, we will also answer and directly attack them. Neither the terrorists will get exemption, nor will their boss be safe.

On May 10, there was a ceasefire between India and Pakistan

To avenge the Pahalgam attack on 22 April, the Indian Air Force did an air strike in Pakistan and POK at 1:05 am on 6-7 May. In the operation which lasted only 25 minutes, 9 terrorist hideouts in 7 cities were destroyed. It was named Operation Sindoor.

The ceasefire was on May 10 after drone and missile attacks on each other for four days between India and Pakistan. Trump first informed about this on his social media platform. Since then, he has claimed to end the struggle between India and Pakistan more than 15 times.

However, India has been continuously saying that the ceasefire was agreed on a direct talks between the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the India-Pakistan forces. However, Pakistan has given the credit of ceasefire to President Trump several times.
