The President of Yemen has approved the death sentence given to Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, imprisoned in Yemen. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has confirmed this.
The Ministry of External Affairs has assured that the government is providing all possible help in this matter.
Nimisha, a resident of Kerala, is accused of murdering Talal Abdo Mahdi, a citizen of Yemen. Nimisha had killed Mahdi in 2017 by giving him a drug overdose.
Nimisha and Mahdi were partners in a private clinic in Yemen. It is alleged that Mahdi had taken possession of Nimisha’s passport and used to torture her. Nimisha will be punished within a month.
Nimisha trapped in Yemen due to civil war

Nimisha started working in Kerala after completing her nursing studies in 2008. In 2011, she married Tommy Thomas from Kerala. After this both of them went to Yemen in 2012. Sana was doing nursing work here.
In 2014, due to financial constraints, Nimisha’s husband and one of her daughters returned to India. However, Nimisha continued to work in Yemen. During this time, civil war had started in Yemen. Because of this, new visas had stopped being received. Due to this, Nimisha’s husband was not able to go back to Yemen.
In 2015, Nimisha started her own clinic in partnership with Mahdi in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. According to the law of Yemen, only citizens of Yemen can start their business there. That’s why Nimisha had sought Mahdi’s help.
Mahdi fraudulently confiscated Nimisha’s passport Nimisha came to Kerala on a month’s leave in 2015. Mahdi also came with Nimisha. He had stolen a wedding photograph from Nimisha’s house. Later he morphed this photo and claimed to be Nimisha’s husband.
According to Nimisha’s mother, he tampered with the clinic ownership documents. He claimed that Nimisha was his wife and started taking a share from her earnings.

Nimisha’s mother had filed a petition in the court alleging that Mahdi had confiscated Nimisha’s passport and used to torture her while intoxicated. He had also threatened Nimisha at gunpoint several times.
In July 2017, Nimisha had given anesthetic injection to Mahdi. Although it had no effect on Mahdi, Nimisha then gave him an overdose of the medicine, due to which he died.
