In Prague Masters, Indian Grandmaster Arvind Chidambaram has performed brilliantly and has made an entry in the top-15 with his lead in a singles. Arvind took a single lead by defeating the Netherlands’s Anish Giri in the 7th round of the single match. Arvind played with black pieces in this match in which he took an lead in the 24th move and then managed to end the match in the 39th move.
Pragyanand drew against Wei ji of China
India’s star chase player Pragyanand played a draw in the match against China’s Wei Yi, who was considered a contender to win the title before the start of the Prague tournament. Arvind has made his number of points to five out of the potential seven and now he is at a half point lead from Pragyananda. Now only two rounds are yet to be played. In another match, 16 -year -old Gurel Ediz of Turki defeated Guayen Thai Dai Van of the Czech Republic, while David Navara of the Czech Republic played a draw with Vincent Kimar of Germany. Arvind holds the first number with five points while Pragyananda is in second place with 4.5 points. He is followed by Vai Yi, Ediz, Kimar and Shankland at number three with 3.5 marks. Giri, Navara and Lem have three points while Dai Van ranks the last place with 2.5 points.
Arvind left Vishwanathan Anand behind
Arvind Chidambaram has defeated Anish Giri in Prague Masters and secured 14th position in the live rating, in which he has now also surpassed veteran Chase player Vishwanathan Anand, who is at number 15. There are now a total of 5 Indian players in the top-15 in the live rating.
