Through this, they try to increase the sales and popularity of their products by giving fake reviews.
What is brushing scam?
Brushing scams started from Chinese e-commerce sites. In this, fake orders are made and cheap products are sent to the customers, so that their sales figures can be increased and the product can be shown more famous. According to McAfee, these scammers send products using fake or stolen addresses and then write false reviews in the name of customers.
How does this scam work?
Scammers create fake accounts on e-commerce platforms.
Place orders for your own products.
Low-quality products, such as cheap jewelry or small gadgets, are shipped to a random address.
After delivery, reviews are written in the name of users falsely praising the products.
What is the risk?
If you receive an unordered package, it could be a sign that your personal data has been leaked.
Cyber criminals obtain information such as names and addresses through data breaches or illegal means.
