In Amritsar, the police have taken major action and exposed the two gangs. One gang was involved in international intoxication and arms smuggling, while the other was associated with interstate drugs and hawala.

In both these cases, the police have arrested a total of 9 people. They have recovered 1.15 kg of heroin, 5 pistols (which have 3 glock 9mm and 2 sugar pistols), cartridges and drug money of Rs 9.7 lakhs from them.

First case: Modules related to Pakistan and Malaysia busted
The police have arrested three accused, of which two have recently returned from Malaysia. 5 modern pistols and 1 kg of heroin have been recovered from them. Investigation has revealed that the accused were working on a plan to deliver weapons in Punjab on the instructions of their handlers sitting in Pakistan and Malaysia.
Second case: Interstate hawala syndicate
Another operation has revealed the hawala networks associated with Delhi, Karnataka and Dubai. 6 accused have been arrested in this case. A drug of ₹ 9.7 lakh and 150 grams of heroin have been recovered from them. This money was being sent to Dubai through hawala network.

- Heroin: 1.15 kg
- Weapons: 5 pistols (3 Glock 9mm, 2 Chinese Pistol) and Cartridge
- Cash: ₹ 9.7 Lakh (Drug Money)

DGP Punjab informed that FIR police station Sadar and police station Islamabad have been lodged in Amritsar. The police is looking for further links in these cases, including forward and backward links. The Punjab Police has reiterated that it is committed to breaking the nexus of intoxication and arms smuggling and making the state safe.
