A passenger plane crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday. According to news agency AP, information has been received about the death of 38 people in the accident. At 9:30 pm, about 10 hours after the accident, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev confirmed the death toll.

According to reports, there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on the plane. The plane was headed from Azerbaijan to Grozny, the capital of Russia’s Chechnya province, but had to make an emergency landing about 3 km from the Kazakh city of Aktau. During this, the plane crashed and broke into two pieces, after which it caught fire.

According to the agencies, the route of the flight was changed due to dense fog. The plane had made several rounds of the airport before crashing. The pilot had also asked for permission for emergency landing. However, later he was forced to make an emergency landing on the beach near the airport.

The crashed plane was an Embraer 190 model of Azerbaijan Airlines. According to the Emergency Ministry of Kazakhstan, a total of 52 rescue teams and 11 rescue equipments have been sent to the accident site.

2 theories and 3 questions regarding plane crash

Theories…

1. Oxygen cylinder burst due to bird collision: According to media reports, when the plane hit a bird, its oxygen cylinder exploded, causing the plane to crash. However, in the footage going viral on social media, the plane is seen catching fire only after the crash. Before that no fire or smoke is visible.

2. Technical failure: Kazakhstan officials say that they are also investigating the crash from the angle of some technical faults. Also, a case has been initiated for violation of safety regulations in the entire matter.

Question…

1. If the pilot asked for permission to make an emergency landing then why did the plane land on the beach?

2. Whether the pilot was given permission for emergency landing or not. If permission was granted then why did the pilot land on the beach instead of the runway?

3. If the oxygen cylinder in the plane burst due to the bird hit, then how did the plane keep circling the airport before crashing.

How dangerous is bird collision with plane? Collision with aircraft is dangerous for birds in many ways. Among these, birds entering the engine, hitting the windshield or hitting the wing and tail of the aircraft are important.

When birds hit aircraft engines and enter them, they damage fan blades or compressors. Due to this the aircraft engine stops. In 2009, a flock of swans crashed into the engine of US Airways Flight 1549. Due to this both the engines failed. Due to this, the flight had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River.

There is a possibility of glass breaking if a bird hits the windshield. Due to this, the vision of the pilots may be affected or injury may occur. Because of this there is a risk of the aircraft going out of control. At the same time, due to collision of birds with other parts of the aircraft, the aerodynamics of the aircraft is affected. Because of this they go out of control.

According to different seating arrangements, 90 to 98 people including passengers and crew members can travel in it. This aircraft is single-aisle, that is, it has seats on both sides and a gallery in the middle. The Embraer 190 jet is equipped with two turbofan engines, due to which it can cover a distance of as long as 4000 KM.
