New Delhi: On the occasion of Holi, the Railways has taken a big step to control the crowd in railway stations and trains. Security of railway stations will be on the lines of the airport. Without tickets and waiting tickets, railway passengers will not be able to enter inside the station, that is, passengers will not be able to enter the AC and sleeper coaches of the train. This means that passengers will not be able to travel in the train by taking tickets and waiting tickets. At present, this system is still applicable till Holi.

In a high level meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, several decisions were taken for crowd control of railway stations. Which is low.

Construction of permanent external waiting area at 60 stations

A permanent external waiting area will be built at 60 stations. Waiting areas were built outside the stations during the 2024 festivals, causing a huge crowd to control Surat, Udhna, Patna and New Delhi. Passengers were allowed to go on the platform only when the train arrived on the platform.

Similar arrangements were made during Mahakumbh at nine stations in Prayag region. Based on these experiences, the Railways has decided to create a permanent waiting area at 60 such stations across the country, where there is a huge crowd from time to time.

Railways informed that pilot projects have started at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Patna stations. With this arrangement, the sudden congestion will be controlled in the waiting area and passengers will be allowed to go on the platform only when the train arrives, which will reduce the congestion at the station.

Access control

Complete entry control will be applied at these 60 stations. Only passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to go directly to the platform. Passengers without tickets or waiting tickets will stay in the outer waiting area. All unauthorized entrances will be sealed.

Wide Foot-Over Bridge (FOB)

Under this, foot-over bridge of two new Standard with 12 meters (40 ft) and 6 meters (20 ft) width has been designed. These wide Fob and Ramp proved to be very effective in mob management during Mahakumbh. These new wide fobs will be installed at all stations.

CCTV camera

CCTV cameras played an important role in the crowd control during Mahakumbh. A large number of CCTV cameras will be installed for monitoring all stations and surrounding areas.

war Room

War rooms will be developed at large stations for mob control. Officers of all departments will work in the war room in the event of crowd.

Modern equipment and technology

Modern equipment and technology to control the crowd such as walkie-talks, announcing systems and calling systems will be installed at all huge crowds.

ID card of new design

All staff and service personnel will be given new design ID cards. Which will allow only authorized persons to enter the station. A new design uniform will be given for the staff so that they can be easily identified in any emergency.

Station director will be appointed

A senior officer will be made station director at all major stations. All other departments will report to the station director. Station directors will be given financial rights so that they can take immediate decisions for station improvement. Station directors will be empowered to control ticket sales according to the station’s capacity and available trains.
