Train Ticket Booking: Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of online ticket booking system. This change made by the Railways will be applicable from 1 October 2025. According to the new change of the railway, now from 1 October 2025, whenever the general ticket booking of a train starts, only those passengers will be able to book tickets for the first 15 minutes, which have been the Aadhaar Authentication. This rule will be applicable to both IRCTC website and mobile app. According to the Railways, this step will benefit real passengers and will prevent disturbances in ticket booking by fake or unauthorized people.
Passengers will get facility
The Railway Ministry has made it clear that there will be no change in the rules for taking General Reservation Tickets from PRS counter. Also, the ban on not booking for the first 10 minutes after opening tickets on authorized railway agents will continue as before. Railways believe that the ticket booking process will be more transparent with the new system and the interference of brokers will be reduced. This will also give a better chance of getting seats for normal passengers.
These rules were implemented on July 1
Indian Railways recently made Aadhaar verification mandatory in Tatkal ticket booking. Under this rule, implemented from 1 July 2025, now passengers can take Tatkal tickets only from IRCTC website or mobile app and for this they are required to get Aadhaar verification. A few months after this change, now the same rule is being implemented in general ticket booking. Indian Railways has also imposed special restrictions on immediate booking for authorized ticket agents. According to the rules, agents cannot take Tatkal tickets for 30 minutes before the booking is opened.
