Saim ayub injury: Young batsman Sam Ayub has not got a place in the Pakistani team for the Champions Trophy 2025, as he was injured on a tour of South Africa. Since then he has been away from the cricket field and his rehabilitation continues. Ayub was doing well for some time and his absence in the Champions Trophy is no less than a shock for Pakistan.
Sam Ayub out for 10 weeks
The Pakistan Cricket Board has stated in its press release that Sam Ayub is making good progress in recovering from the right ankle fracture. He will continue his rehabilitation in England. After the MRI scan and X-ray, Sam has been excluded from his date of injury (3 January) for 10 weeks. After the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistani team has to play the limited overs series on a New Zealand tour, where their availability will depend on the fitness test and meeting the medical requirements.
Injured in South Africa
Sam Ayub’s ankle was turned while stopping the ball in the second Test match against South Africa. After this he started groaning with pain and then he was immediately taken out of the ground on the stretcher. While he was going out of the ground, he had tears in his eyes. After initial treatment, he was seen walking with the help of Baisakhi. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board then said that it would remain out of the ground for 6 weeks, which hoped to play in the Champions Trophy. But he still could not fit and he was not selected for the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan will visit New Zealand after Champions Trophy
The Pakistani team will visit New Zealand after the Champions Trophy 2025. Where he has to play five T20 International matches and three ODI series. This will be followed by Pakistan Super League, which will start from 8 April. Ayub is likely to play in them. He has scored 515 runs in 9 ODIs for Pakistan, 498 runs in 27 T20 international matches and 364 runs in 8 Tests. Three centuries are also recorded in his name in ODI cricket.
