New order to telecom companies

Operation Sindoor: Taking a revenge for the Pahalgam terror attack, India has been a tension between the two countries since the strike on Pakistan terrorist bases. In view of this, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has ordered all private and government telecom companies to ensure disaster-level preparation. Also, the Department of Telecommunications has ordered telecom companies to secure the network. DOT has issued these instructions, especially in view of the danger of possible cyber attack.

Order to maintain uninterrupted connectivity

According to the report of Money Control, the order issued by the Ministry of Communications has directed telecom operators Airtel, Jio, BSNL and VI to maintain uninterrupted connectivity and coordinate with each other to guarantee network operations. The meeting held after India launched Operation Sindoor has asked telecom companies to pay special attention to the border area and create an updated list of infrastructure and installations, so that their safety and continuous functioning can be ensured in an emergency.

The Disaster Management Department of the Ministry of Telecommunications said in a letter to all telecom companies on 7 May, “Special emphasis should be laid to ensure uninterrupted functioning of BTS places within 100 km of the international border.” Also, take necessary measures to maintain communication without any obstruction in telecom operators security situation and disaster. Especially work to ease connectivity at emergency operation centers (EOCs) at both state and district levels.

Sop Follow Strictly

DOT in its order has directed telecom companies to strictly follow the 2020 Standard Operating Procedure. It should be considered with immediate effect and necessary action should be taken. Apart from this, the Ministry has instructed all the LSA heads of the Department of Telecommunications to talk to the state governments and make the logistics movements of telecom companies easier and ensure their safety in the event of emergency.

INTRA Circle Roaming

Telecom companies start the intra circle roaming service during the disaster, due to which users do not face problems in network connectivity. Last year, during the cyclonic storm in Orissa, telecom companies turned on intra circle roaming, due to which the users did not have the network problems. If there is no home network on an intra-circle roaming on, users can call from their number users using any telecom operator network during disaster.
