Why is it necessary

Exceptions will be allowed for special areas such as astronomy, navigation and scientific research, for which government approval will have to be obtained first. The Department of Consumer Affairs is developing a strong time construction and dissemination mechanism in collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The stakeholders have been asked to give suggestions on the draft of the rules by 14 February.

Fine for violation

According to the draft that has been prepared about this, only IST will be used for reference to time. Violation of the proposed rules will be fined. The draft also has a prohibition of timely synchronization systems to ensure cyber security, reliability. Time synchronization refers to the process of ensuring that two systems or devices share a normal time reference. It is important in various fields such as engineering, safe communication, physical systems. The Department of Consumer Affairs is developing a strong time dissemination mechanism with the National Physical Laboratory and ISRO.

India’s time zone

There is only one time zone in India. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat, the same time zone is implemented in India, which is called Indian Standards Time (IST). However, from time to time, different time zones have also been demanded by many states. Especially the northeastern states believe that due to a time zone, sunrise and sunset are done before them. In such a situation, the time zone should be determined according to their local conditions. Let us know that India’s time zone is five and a half hours ahead of the standard time (GMT) of Greenwich.
