India is going to induct two indigenous warships and a diesel electric submarine very soon into the naval fleet to boost its maritime combat capabilities. For the first time, a submarine, a destroyer and a missile frigate ship are going to be inducted into the Indian Navy together. The Indian Navy is set to induct the last Kalvari series submarine of Project 75, the submarine is named INS Wagshir. At the same time, under Project 15, INS Surat, the last destroyer ship of Vishalpatnam series, will be included in the fleet. Apart from this, under Project 17A, Nilgiri series ship INS Nilgiri is also being made a part of the fleet. Both these warships and submarines will be commissioned in Mumbai in January.

INS Wagshir is named after a sand fish. Which is a predatory fish living in the depths of the Indian Ocean. This submarine Vagshir has been designed to work in all operational tasks. Its weight is about 1600 tonnes, in which heavy sensors and weapons are installed. Warships Surat and Nilgiri were handed over to the Navy by the Mumbai-based Manjgaon Docks (MDL) last week. The frigate Nilgiri is the first ship of Project 17 A stealth delivered to the Navy. The seven ships to be built under this project are being built by MDL Mumbai and GRSE Kolkata.

INS Surat is the most powerful destroyer ever built.
The warship Surat received by the Navy is the fourth and last batch of Project B stealth guided missile destroyer worth Rs 35 thousand crore. Earlier, in the last 3 years, three ships Visakhapatnam, Mormugao and Imphal have been included in the naval fleet under this project. The delivery of Surat marks the culmination of the Navy’s indigenous destroyer construction project. This project was started in the year 2021. INS Surat built under the project is the most powerful destroyer ship ever built. Its total weight is 7400 tonnes and length is 164 meters. The ship is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors including anti-air missiles, anti-ship missiles and torpedoes.
