New Delhi: Enemies should become alert to the enemy countries with eyes on the border of India. India can stamped the purchase of 26 naval versions of Rafale fighter jet from France and three Scorpene submarines in the next few weeks to increase their navy power. People aware of the case gave this information on Thursday.

PM Modi will visit France

However, it is not clear at the moment whether the announcement of the purchase of Rafale-M and Scorpene will be announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Paris. Modi will travel to Paris on 10–11 February to attend a two-day summit based on artificial intelligence (AI). On the sidelines of the summit, he is expected to have bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Purchase was approved in July 2023

People aware of the case said that both agreements are in the final stages and the Cabinet Committee (CCS) on security matters will have to consider them. In July 2023, the Ministry of Defense approved the purchase of 22 Rafael (M) jet from France, mainly for deployment on indigenously manufactured aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. The ministry had also approved the purchase of three Scorpene submarines from France.

6 Scorpene submarine construction

The Majgaon Dock Limited (MDL) has already constructed a six Scorpene submarine in India in collaboration with the French Navy Group under Project-75 of the Indian Navy. The purchase of related accessories including Rafael-M jet as well as arms systems and parts will be based on an inter-governmental agreement (IGA). The Indian Air Force bought 36 Rafale fighter aircraft from France in a flying position. The Air Force believes that it should purchase at least two more fleet of Rafale Jet. (Language)
