The government is now going to bring a new rule to set the temperature of the Air Conditioner (AC). Now you cannot do the temperature of AC below 20 degrees in homes. Electricity consumption is continuously increasing due to running more AC in summer and set to 16 degrees. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Tuesday that the temperature of AC would not be less than 20 degrees Celsius and more than 28 degrees Celsius. This rule will be applicable to all houses, offices, shops and even AC installed in trains.
The minister said that this is a new and first initiative. The aim is to make the use of AC temperature alike across the country. This will save electricity and people will benefit in a long time.
Why is this rule being brought?
The government says that as the heat is increasing and the use of AC is increasing, the power consumption is also increasing rapidly. Many people set AC up to 16 degrees, which consumes a lot of electricity and also increases the electricity bill. Now after the new rule is implemented, AC will not be set below 20 degrees or above 28 degrees. That is, if someone wants a very cold or very hot temperature, then it will not be possible now.
Where will this rule apply?
This rule will not be limited to homes only, but will also apply in offices, shops, malls, hotels, restaurants and cars. In a way, it is an attempt to make the use of AC uniform, which reduces power consumption and also reduces the impact on the environment.
What is the current situation?
Currently, most of the ACS present in the market can be set from 16 degrees to 30 degrees. But after the new rule is implemented, these limitations will be fixed between 20 and 28 ° C.
The government believes that this step will not only do power saving, but will also reduce the electricity bill and help reduce carbon emissions, which will also benefit the environment.
Earlier, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) had set a default temperature to 24 degrees for all star -labeled ACs in 2020. Now this new rule will implement temperature settings more strictly in all sectors. This initiative is being started as an experiment and later it can be made mandatory throughout the country.
