The main objective of the new rules is to prevent fraud through fake calls and SMS. TRAI has blocked a large number of fake mobile numbers, which will provide relief to customers from fraud.
Strict action against fraudsters
Now taking a SIM card in someone else’s name or using a fake SIM will be considered a crime. In such cases, strict action will be taken against the culprits. They will be punished considering they are a threat to cyber security.
three year blacklist
Persons using fake SIM cards will be blacklisted for three years. All their active SIM cards will be blocked and they will be banned from getting a new SIM for six months to three years.

From 2025, the government will share information about fake SIM card users with all telecom companies. It will be ensured that SIM cards are not issued again in the name of these persons.
