National Games 2025: Gi Sathiyan lost in table tennis, this player won gold

The 38th National Games is being organized in Uttarakhand. Where Jaish Amit Modi of Maharashtra won the gold medal by defeating Gi Sathiyan of Tamil Nadu, the Commonwealth Games medalist in the men’s single table tennis event. Amit Modi performed well and the experienced ji Sathiyan could not stand in front of him. After winning the gold medal, Amit has told that the golden phase of India is coming soon in the table tennis game.

New player rises in table tennis

Jaish Amit Modi of Maharashtra defeated Zee Sathiyan 7-11 6-11 11-7 14-12 6-11 11-6. While Sathiyan had won the gold medal of men’s singles bronze and men’s team event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and had immense experience, but Amit in the National Games was overwhelmed on him. In the women’s singles, Selena Deepti Selvakumar of Tamil Nadu won the gold medal by defeating Maharashtra’s Swastika Ghosh 11-7 11-2 6-11 8-11 8-11 11-7 11-9. In the mixed category, Anirban Ghosh and Ayhika Mukherjee of West Bengal defeated Chinmay Somaiya and Reet T of Maharashtra 10-12 6-11 11-7 11-8 11-2.

Army maintained its dominance

The army retained its dominance in the National Games, finishing the top position in the medal tally in the 38th edition and its players have topped for the fifth time in the last six games. On the last day on Thursday, the army won nine more medals including three gold. The army became a total of 121 (68 gold, 26 silver and 27 bronze) medals. He was second after Maharashtra at the 2023 National Games in Goa. Earlier, four consecutive National Games (2007, 2011, 2015 and 2022) topped the top. Maharashtra won 198 medals but had 54 gold, 71 silver and 73 bronze. Haryana had 48 gold, 47 silver and 58 bronze. Karnataka finished fourth and Madhya Pradesh ranked fifth. This was followed by Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Punjab and Delhi. The closing ceremony of the National Games will take place in Haldwani on Friday in which Home Minister Amit Shah will participate.
