India has joined the G7 Summit 5 times since 2019.

Canada has sent an invitation to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to attend the G7 countries summit. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called PM Modi and called for the summit. Modi has given information about this by posting on X.

Modi thanked Carney for the invitation and congratulated him on winning the Canadian election. He also said that he is eagerly waiting to meet Carney at the summit.

The summit will be held from 15 to 17 June in Kananaskis, Alberta province, Canada. India got this invitation just 8 days before the commencement of the summit.

Many media reports said that Canada is not sending invitation to India to this summit. The sourness in the relations between the two countries was being considered as the reason behind this. India has been attending this summit since 2019 as a guest.

Who has got the invitation till now?

The country hosting G7 every year invites some visiting countries. So far, Canada has sent an invitation to Ukraine and Australia before India. The names of any other guest country have not been made public yet.

Why did India-Canada relations get soured

In 2023, the then Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had raised controversy by saying that the agents of the Government of India could play a role in the murder of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India had dismissed these allegations as ridiculous and inspired by politics. After this, both countries downed their diplomatic relations.

What is the organization going to attend the G7 meeting?

G7 is a group of seven developed and rich countries in the world. Which currently includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and America. It is also called Group of Seven.

It started during the Cold War when the Soviet Union and its support countries together formed a group called Warsa. On the other hand, there were industrial and developed countries of the west.

In 1975, the anti -Left anti -Western countries France, Italy, West Germany (Germany was divided into two pieces at that time), America, Britain and Japan come on one stage. Their purpose is to sit together and discuss the issues of economy related to their interests. Since then this informal organization begins. Initially these were 6 countries, it became G7 due to Canadian involvement in 1976.

The second phase of the G7 organization begins in 1998. When Russia is included in it. Russia’s President Boris Yeltsin was currently. Russia’s policy was also supported by the US and Western countries. After Russia joined the G7, its name became G8. In 2014, Russia was dropped from the organization after Russia infiltrates in 2014.

What is the work of g7

  • In the first meeting of the G7 organization, a plan was made to deal with the oil crisis launched by Saudi.
  • Also, the exchange rate crisis started at that time. This means that the US de-linked the dollar value from gold.
  • The US did this to increase dollars dominance instead of sleeping in the world. However, this led to economic troubles for other countries.
  • Western countries felt that they need to come together to make a policy at financial level, so that they could resolve their business and trade issues.
  • Since then, this organization meets every year continuously. These countries discuss important issues related to the politics and economy of the world.
