Canadian MP Chandra Arya announced his candidacy by posting a video on X on Thursday. Chandra was earlier considered close to Justin Trudeau, but after Trudeau’s stance on Khalistani terrorism and extremism, Arya became his staunch opponent.
In fact, on January 6, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned from both the posts of party leader and PM after increasing pressure from party leaders. He became PM for the third time in September 2021. The tenure of his government was till October 2025.
Announcing his claim, Chandra Arya said-
I am running to become the next Prime Minister of Canada to lead a smaller, more efficient government to rebuild our country and ensure prosperity for future generations. We are facing significant structural problems, the likes of which have not been seen for generations, and solving them will require difficult choices.
Canada needs strong leadership Arya said, ‘Many Canadians, especially the younger generation, are facing problems. The working middle class is struggling today. Many families are becoming poor. Canada needs leadership that is not afraid to take big decisions. Decisions that strengthen our economy, restore hope, and create equal opportunities for all Canadians. With prudence and pragmatism as my guiding principles, I look forward to taking on this responsibility and leading as the next Prime Minister of Canada.’
He said- I have always worked hard to do the best for Canadians. We must take the bold decisions that are necessary for the sake of our children. If I am elected the next leader of the Liberal Party, I will bring my knowledge and expertise to bear.
Chandra Arya told Canadians, ‘Come… join me on this journey. Let us rebuild the future together. Revive it and save it. “It is important to do this for all Canadians, for future generations.”
Chandra Arya visited India in August 2024. During this time he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
