Eminent journalist and politician MJ Akbar has once again returned to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s team. In fact, the central government is sending all -party delegation to various countries to expose Pakistan on terrorism and to favor India, in which MJ Akbar is also named. MJ Akbar had to resign from the post of Minister of State for External Affairs after allegations of ‘Meetu controversy’ in 2018 7 years ago.
MJ Akbar is placed in the delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad. The delegation will visit the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark. MJ Akbar was trapped in Meetu controversy
In fact, in 2018, Akbar’s career was shocked by ‘Meetu controversy’. Many former women colleagues accused him of sexual harassment, after which he had to resign from the post of minister. Akbar had filed a defamation suit against journalist Priya Ramani, calling these allegations baseless. In 2021, a Delhi court acquitted Ramani, against which Akbar appealed to the Delhi High Court. The controversy affected his public image and he went on political margins for some time.

MJ Akbar made a splash in the 1970s with his writing in publications like Sunday and Asia. Later, he gave new dimensions to journalism as the editor of newspapers like The Telegraph and Asian Age. His books, Nehru: The Making of India and Kashmir: Behind the Well, are known for the intensive analysis of the history and politics.
In 1989, Akbar entered politics as a Congress MP from Kishanganj in Bihar, but in 1991 he lost the seat. His political innings took a new turn after joining BJP in 2014. He became the Minister of State for External Affairs in the Modi government in 2016 after becoming a Rajya Sabha MP in 2015. During this time he contributed to strengthening India’s diplomacy on the global stage.
