Microsoft signs deal with IndiaAI, AI training will be given to 5 lakh people by 2026

AI IndiaAI, a government unit working on AI, has partnered with leading technology company Microsoft to train five lakh people by the year 2026. A top official of the company gave this information on Wednesday. Under this partnership, five lakh people including students, teachers, software developers, government officials and women entrepreneurs will be given AI training. Puneet Chandhok, president of Microsoft’s India and South Asia segment, told PTI that the $3 billion investment announced by the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella will help in building technology, infrastructure, AI capacity and human capital in this country. Will be on creation of capital.

People will be given training

Chandhok said, “We had announced to provide training to 20 lakh people last year. We have already trained 24 lakh people. We have announced to provide training to one crore people in the next five years. We have also signed an MoU with the IndiaAI Mission and under this, five lakh people will be trained.” The government had sanctioned Rs 10,372 crore in March 2024 for the development of AI ecosystem in the country within five years. . Under this partnership, AI Productivity Labs will be set up in 20 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) and NIELIT centers to train 20,000 teachers in 10 states. With this, one lakh students will be empowered with basic AI courses in 200 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

‘AI Catalysts’ will be established

Chandhok said Microsoft is also setting up a Center of Excellence with the government on the IndiaAI mission. Under this partnership, Center of Excellence ‘AI Catalysts’ will be set up to promote rural AI innovation and enable one lakh innovators and developers in tier II and III cities of the country. Microsoft’s ‘Founders Hub’ program will also provide Azure credits, business resources and guidance to 1,000 AI startups under the IndiaAI mission. This collaboration will focus on developing foundational models with Indian language support to address India’s linguistic diversity and unique needs, ensuring cultural and relevance. Microsoft and IndiaAI will collaborate to create frameworks, standards and evaluation criteria for the development of responsible AI. This will support the establishment of an AI security institute in the country.
