If you travel by metro train then there is good news for you. You will soon be able to take a metro ticket from the app of Uber, which provides app based taxi and other services. Uber announced the introduction of metro ticketing on his app on Monday. According to PTI news, the company also said that it started with Delhi Metro. Uber said that this facility is going to start in three more cities across India in 2025.

QR-based tickets will be able to buy

ONDC caretaker CEO and COO Vibhor Jain described Uber’s inclusion in ONDC network as an important step in expanding the access to reliable, inter-operating digital infrastructure. Jain said that from today, Uber users in the national capital will be able to plan their metro trip within the Uber app, will be able to buy QR-based tickets and reach the real-time transit information.

B2B logistics will be launched through ONDC network

According to the news, Uber said that he will soon launch the B2B logistics through the ONDC network that is a solution that would allow businesses to request on-demand logistics from Uber’s delivery network, without the need of their own fleet. Uber announced the introduction of metro ticketing on the Uber app on May 19, operated by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), in which Delhi Metro will be live as the first launch city.

Company is taking advantage of digitization in India

The company said it is the first integration of Uber with India’s leading digital public infrastructure and a major step towards making public transport more connected. The move was taken after a Memorandum (MoU) signed during 2024 CEO Dara Khosaroshahi’s visit to India (MoU), in which Uber committed to cooperate with ONDC to carry forward the reach and impact of India’s digital public goods.
