The acquisition of WhatsApp and Instagram, which was done for Meta nearly a decade ago, is becoming a sore throat. The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has asked the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Monday (April 15) about this deal. Recently, the Federal Commission has described the Deal of Instagram and WhatsApp by Meta in 2012 and 2014 as illegal. This anti -trust case is being heard in the Tribunal Court from April 15 in this case. If the Federal Commission canceled this Meta deal, then Mark Zuckerberg’s hand may bring two big social media platforms Instagram and WhatsApp.
Mark Zuckerberg cleaned his stand
During the hearing in the Tribunal Court on Monday, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the acquisition made a decade ago was to improve the user experience and innovate innovation. During this time, the platforms of the meta have become better over time. Zuckerberg claimed that over time, its ‘interest’ part has developed more than the friend’s part. Today, users are getting engaged in Group’s contents and large interest areas. The purpose of Meta is to maintain connections with friends and family members.
FTC made serious allegations
FTC’s top Litigator Daniel Metheson brought all three meta platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp in its opening Remark to the dock, saying that these apps have not left any revolutionary ultratives with users. At the same time, accusing Meta, he said that the company acquired Instagram and WhatsApp only because no other rival could stand. This is the reason that FTC should see them like a personal social networking market platform, through which users connect with their friends and family.
FTC and Meta had a dispute in the court for about 1 hour, in which FTC put the internal e-mail series made in 2012 before the court and said that Facebook had bought Instagram to Neturize its competition. However, Zuckerberg replied this, saying that the regulators had approached Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014. It is not right to challenge this deal after more than a decade on the basis of old e-mail. In this case, Mark Zukarkarark will have to keep his stand in the court on Tuesday i.e. even today.
Will Instagram and Whatsapp be closed?
If FTC wins its case in this case, Meta can be forced to close Instagram and WhatsApp. Due to this, their years of integration may end and the company’s attractive advertising model may get a setback. Explain that in 2025, Instagram alone is estimated to contribute more than half of Mata’s US advertising revenue. The trial on Meta is expected to last for about eight weeks.
