Market outlook 2025: The year 2024 has been remarkable for our markets. Despite some corrections and high volatility during the last few months, the Nifty 50 index has given a return of 9.53%. Whereas Sensex has given 9.25 percent profit for investors. As 2025 approaches, top performing Portfolio Management Services (PMS) managers share their advice for investors, saying take a bottom-up approach to stock picking in 2025, focus on sectors with growth potential. Prioritize and take advantage of proxy plays to seize potential opportunities.
Amit Jeswani, Founder and Chief Investment Officer, Stallion Assets It says that regardless of market cap (large, medium or small), investors should focus their attention on companies with strong growth potential and delivering their work effectively. He said investors should chase growth and stick with companies that demonstrate strong execution capabilities in their businesses.
similarly Divam Sharma, Founder and Fund Manager, Green Portfolio Investors Says investors should improve their strategies and focus on sectors with growth potential and proxy-plays to maximize returns. He said that global uncertainties can pose a challenge for large-cap stocks. But mid- and small-cap firms in innovative sectors are likely to perform better.
For example, they highlight sectors that are benefiting from 5G rollouts, IoT and AI. Sharma says that investing in companies that supply 5G infrastructure (rather than telecom giants) could yield good returns going forward.
Ashish Goyal, Managing Director and CEO, InvestSavy PMS believes that valuations have increased, making it even more important for investors to either do thorough research on stocks or consider investing through funds. He said investors should try to time the market and avoid leveraging.
Vijay Bharadiya, Founder and CIO, Wallfort PMS believes that low price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios and high-quality stocks are particularly attractive because they tend to be less volatile during recessions. Bharadia is keen on the data center space as India’s growing number of internet users (over 751.5 million) has driven demand for data storage and processing infrastructure. “This trend offers significant growth opportunities for companies involved in data center development and operations,” he says.
