Mahashivratri Share Market Holiday: The Indian stock market will remain closed on the occasion of Shivaratri tomorrow. There will be no trading in NSE and BSE tomorrow. On 26 February 2025, on Wednesday, it will be closed on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. There will be no business in both National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on this day.

Mahashivaratri is a major festival of Hinduism, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This festival is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month, which comes between February-March. On this day, devotees observe night awakening, Shiva worship, and fast.

According to NSE, the stock market will be closed for 14 days in the year 2025.

March: 14 (Holi) and 31 (Eid-ul-Fitr).

April: 10 (Mahavir Jayanti), 14 (Ambedkar Jayanti), 18 (Good Friday).

May: 1 (Maharashtra Day).

August: 15 (Independence Day), 27 (Ganesh Chaturthi).

October: 2 (Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra), 21 (Diwali Laxmi Pujan), 22 (Balipratiprada).

November: 5 (Guru Nanak Dev Prakash Parv).

December: 25 (Christmas).

Stock market time

The business of the Indian stock market is from Monday to Friday, 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. The pre-open session runs from 9:00 am to 9:15 am. The market remains closed on Saturday and Sunday. Due to the holiday on Mahashivaratri, investors will have to monitor the market fluctuations in the next trading session.

Banks will also be closed due to Shivaratri

The holy festival of Mahashivaratri will be celebrated on 26 February, which is a special day of worshiping Lord Shiva. On this day, devotees keep fast, offer water and bell -leaf and worship Bholenath and awaken the night and recite Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and Shiva Chalisa. It is believed that on this day Shiva-Parvati had a holy marriage. RBI has given the holiday of Shivaratri to many states, due to which banks will also be closed on Wednesday 26 February.
