In the drone footage, the entire village is seen pressing in mud and debris. At the same time, the Lonja River was also filled with debris, causing water flow to stop and flood.
The area’s mayor Mathias Belwald said- our village has been lost. The village is under the rubble. We will make it again.
Officials said millions of cubic meters of debris fell into the valley due to breaking part of the rock above the glacier, including snow.
