India’s star badminton player Lakshya Sen made a brilliant comeback, entering the second round of the All England Badminton Championship, while the HS Prannoy and the mixed doubles pair lost. Lakshya defeated Chinese Taipei’s Su Lee Yang 13-21, 21-17 21-15, showing tremendous games after trailing in the first game. The world number 15 player Lakshya will now face Indonesia’s Jonathan Christie in the second round. Lakshya defeated Christie in the Paris Olympics last year, which is expected to compete in this match.
In the target match, after losing the first game, he scored the score at 17–17 in the second game and took advantage of Yang’s mistakes and won four consecutive points and pulled the match to a decisive game. In the third game, the target took an 11–9 lead until the break. Yang equalized the score at 15–15, but after this the target scored 6 consecutive points and won the match.

However, World Championships 2023 and Asian Games bronze medalist HS Prannoy lost 19-21, 16–21 in straight games against Toma Junior Popov of France. Prannoy took a 6–1 lead in the first game and was ahead 15–12, but lost the rhythm under Popov’s pressure. In the second game too, Prannoy scored the score at 13-13, but eventually Popov won by showing restraint.
On the other hand, the pair of India’s Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Adya Variath in the mixed doubles suffered 6-21, 15-21 against the world’s seventh pair of Guo Shin Wa and Chain Feng Hui.
