Mukhyamantri ladki bahin yojana scheme: Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan said on Sunday (January 26) that under the government’s ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’, a total assistance of Rs 21,000 crore has been provided to 2.46 crore women of the state. Addressing the Republic Day celebrations at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the Governor also said that Maharashtra is in the first place in the country in attracting FDI (FDI).

The Governor said, “I appeal to everyone to resolve to create a new and strong Maharashtra. We all should work together to realize our dream of a thousand billion dollar economy.” Let me tell you that the Ladki Bahin Yojana played a major role in the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -led ‘Mahayuti’ assembly elections last year.

The Governor said that under this scheme, about 2.46 crore women have been given a profit of about Rs 21,000 crore from July to December 2024. A monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 is given to eligible women of economically disadvantaged sections under the Ladki Bahin scheme started before the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections.

The popular scheme in Maharashtra has more than 2.43 crore beneficiaries. This puts a burden of about Rs 3,700 crore to the state treasury every month. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has assured that no recovery of funds will be made under ‘Chief Minister Majhi Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’.

According to PTI, this assurance of Pawar has come in the midst of the opposition’s claim that the government will cut the list of beneficiaries, will withdraw the funds distributed to the disqualified persons and eventually shut down the plan.

‘Mahayuti’ helped in winning from the scheme

The Ladki Bahin program was considered a major reason for the great victory of the Mahayuti alliance in the state elections last year. The BJP government has now promised to increase the monthly amount to Rs 2,100. Deputy and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced the scheme in an addition to 2024-25 in the budget.
