Indian Coast Guard and Coastal Security Police (CSP) officials have arrested three people about 15 km from Udupi coast in Karnataka. These people illegally entered the Indian water area by an Oman fishing boat near St. Mary Island on Saturday.

Those arrested were identified as James Franklin Moses (50), Robinaston (50) and Derose Alphonso (38). All of them are residents of Tamil Nadu. The three were booked under section 3 of Passport Activ 1920 and Section 10, 11 and 12 of the Indian Maritime Region Act 1981.

These people, with the help of just one GPS device, traveling about 3000 kilometers and reached the island of St. Mary’s island on February 23 via Karwar coast.

The passport of these people was also confiscated. Because of this, these people ran away with the boat so that they could reach their home.

Sent to judicial custody During interrogation, the accused said that they had left the Dukam port in the eastern part of Oman at 3 pm on 17 February. He was caught near St. Mary Island, away from Udupi coast at around 4.30 pm on 23 February. A local fisherman informed CSP about this.

The three were produced in Udupi’s court on Monday and sent to judicial custody from where they were sent to judicial custody.
