Kangana’s film raised the issue of stopping Emergency in British Parliament.
During the screening of Kangana Ranot’s film Emergency in Britain, the issue of Khalistanis entering and protesting in the British Parliament also arose in the British Parliament. British MP Bob Blackman called it a violation of the rights of the people of Britain and Khalistanis
,
Not only this, the Deputy Chairman of the House has also expressed concern by stating his issue as correct. In fact, last Sunday, there was a dispute during the screening of the film Emergency in some UK cinema hall.
Wearing a mask, Khalistani came to the cinema hall and stopped the screening of the film, shouting slogans. Angered by this incident in many cinema halls, the UK cinema world stopped the screening of the film. The controversy of which has now reached the British Parliament.
In the past, Khalistan supporters entered the cinema house in Britain and shouting slogans.
Know what the UK MP said-
Britain MP Bob Blackman said- On Sunday, I and some of my companions spent money and went to the Harrow View Cinema to watch the film “Emergency”. About 30-40 minutes after the film started, Khalistani terrorists wearing masks came in and threatened the audience and security forces to stop screening of the film. Similar incidents were also seen in Volverhampton, Birmingham, Slou, Stan and Manchester. As a result, theaters stopped the screening of the film.
This is a controversial film, and I will not comment on its quality and content. But I am talking about the rights of people and other persons of my constituency (constituency), in which they can make their views by watching the film. The film is based on the time when the Prime Minister of India was Indira Gandhi. However, it is also seen as an anti-Sikh film.
Nevertheless, I want to say that the people of my Constituency should have the right to watch this film and allow them to take decisions themselves. The threats by thugs and democratic rights of the people should not be allowed.
By next week, appropriate steps should be taken to ensure the safety of people wishing to watch this film. I respect the right to peaceful performance outside theaters, but it is absolutely wrong to come in.
The SGPC performed outside the cinema houses in Punjab and the screening of the film was stopped.
The shows were also stopped in Punjab
Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranot’s film Emergency from Mandi in Himachal was released on Friday. On the very first day, Sikh organizations came down against it in Punjab. Outside theaters in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Mohali, members of Sikh organizations protested with black flags.
The film was not shown in any theater in the state. The film was to be shown on 70 to 80 theaters of PVR Group, after the protest, these theaters did not have a film. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) accused the film of tampering with historical facts and hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community. Only after this, Sikh organizations performed outside PVR cinema on Friday.
SGPC wrote a letter to CM Mann
SGPC secretary Pratap Singh had said- A letter was sent to the Government of India and the Punjab government for not releasing Kangana’s film Emergency in Punjab. But governments did nothing like this. SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami wrote a letter to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann demanding not showing the film in theaters.
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh said that our community has sacrificed for the country. But the Sikhs are shown wrong in this film. This can spoil the atmosphere of Punjab.
Kangana told the harassment of art
Kangana, who was angry at the screening of the film, wrote on X- ‘This is completely art and artist harassment. There are reports from Punjab from many cities that these people are not allowing emergency to run. I respect all religions. After studying and growing up in Chandigarh, I saw and followed Sikhism closely. This is a sheer lies and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film Emergency. ‘
SGPC objected to these scenes of the film
The film shows the incidents of emergency imposed during Indira Gandhi during 1975-77. Especially it shows excesses against Sikhs, army action on Golden Temple and other incidents. The SGPC claims that these events have been incorrectly introduced in the film.
No statement of Punjab government
No official statement has been received by the Punjab government on this issue yet. However, Aam Aadmi Party President Aman Verma said- Punjab’s peace will not be allowed to do any work harming peace. The Chief Minister has to decide to stop the film.
Controversy started after the first trailer
Apart from Sarabjit Singh, an independent MP from Faridkot, SGPC, the highest Sikh organization, had objected to this film first. Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on 6 September 2024, but after the protest it did not get clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
5 months ago, his security personnel who killed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Independent MP from Faridkot, Sarabjit Singh Khalsa objected to the scenes shown in the trailer. He had said that there are reports of the wrongly presenting Sikhs in the film Emergency, due to which there is a possibility of peace and law in the society.
If the Sikhs are shown as separatists or terrorists in this film, then it is a deep conspiracy. Sarabjit had said that the film is a psychological attack, on which the government should stop inciting hatred towards Sikhs in other countries by paying attention to it in advance.
Censor board made three cuts and 10 changes in the film
- The censor board had asked to show facts on the disputed statements shown in the Emergency. The CBFC had said that the makers would have to present sources of statements made by former US President Richard Milhason Nixon in this film towards Indian women and Indians of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill -like statements like rabbits.
- The censor board sent a list of 10 changes to Manikarnika Films Private Limited. Most of these scenes were those on which objections were raised by Sikh organizations.
- In a scene of the film, Pakistani soldiers are shown attacking Bangladesh refugees. In this, they are shown attacking children and women. CBFC also objected to this scene. The board asked the makers to change this scene from the film or delete it completely.
