
Junior women’s hockey team
Hockey India on Saturday announced a 24-member Indian junior women’s team for the upcoming four-nation tournament to be held in Rosario, Argentina with a goalkeeper Nidhi as captain while Hina Bano will be sub-captains. The tournament will be played from May 25 to June 2, in which India and hosts will participate in the team of Uruguay and Chile besides hosts Argentina.
As part of the preparation of the Junior World Cup to be held in December, the Indian team will play two matches against each team that will help them evaluate their performance, assess the team combination and improve strategies. Indian junior woman
Tour is important in terms of Junior World Cup
Hockey team coach Tushar Khandekar said in the release that we want to identify our best players from this team, especially given the Junior World Cup which is just 6 months away. This tour will provide valuable international experience to players. He said that we are also preparing him to make a place in the senior team. India clashed in the first match
The team consists of Angel Harsha Rani Minj as the second goalkeeper while Vidyashree V has been kept standbai. Mamita Oram, Lalthantaluaini, Manisha, Pooja Sahu, Parvati Topno, Nandini and Sakshi Shukla have got a place in the defense. The midfield will include Priyanka Yadav, Anisha Sahu, Rajni Kerketta, Binima Dhan, Khaidem Shilma Chanu, Sanjana Horo, Supriya Kujur and Priyanka Dogra. Huda Khan and Munmuni Das are listed as Standby Midfielders. Hina Bano, Sonam, Sukhveer Kaur, Geeta Yadav, Lalrinpui, Kanika Siwach and Karamanpreet Kaur have been selected as forward.
